Getting Your Bearings at the WDW Resort

If you are planning your first vacation to the WDW Resort, you may not be aware just how HUGE Disney really is.

The WDW is comprised of 4 theme parks:

  • Magic Kingdom
  • Animal Kingdom
  • EPCOT (Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow)
  • Hollywood Studios

2 water parks:

  • Typhoon Lagoon
  • Blizzard Beach

a MASSIVE shopping, dining and entertainment district, referred to as Disney Springs (Previously Downtown Disney)

a sports complex, Disney’s Wide World of Sports, more than 30 hotels, and 4 golf courses!

Take a look at a WDW Resort map to see how it is all laid out. (image fromĀ  http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/propertymap.htm) Once you are inside the gates of WDW Resort, all theme parks and guest areas are connected by a series of highways. If you are staying as a guest at a WDW Resort, you can sit back and enjoy complimentary transportation to all resort areas. WDW has many ways to move their guests around including bus and boat transportation, and Disney’s own Monorail system!

If you are flying into Orlando Airport, be sure to check into arranging Disney’s Magical Express transportation to your WDW Resort hotel. They will send you special baggage tickets in the weeks prior to your departure, you put these baggage tickets on your luggage and say goodbye to your bags at your departure airport check in! Your luggage meets you in your resort room at WDW.

Be sure to check out my additional posts highlighting all the action at each WDW theme park!
